  • 5/29 Stamford Campus Director Announcement

    We write to inform you that Dr. Sharon White, Campus Director at UConn Stamford, will retire, effective January 1, 2016, after serving for nearly seven years. Dr. White has served in various roles at UConn since 1980 and, at the time of her retirement, will have been at UConn for more than 35 years. As a Campus Director, she has supported UConn Stamford’s efforts to pursue excellence.

    Dr. White has dedicated her career to serving in a variety of professional roles in higher education including admissions, counseling, advising, and leadership positions in Student Affairs and Services. In later years, she has led the charge in providing strategic leadership and vision to one of UConn’s five regional campuses. Dr. White has achieved many milestones, such as improving and expanding Stamford’s Student Services. During her tenure as Campus Director, Dr. White has:

    • Developed and solidified relationships with various constituents of the Stamford Downtown, including educational, corporate, and community-based organizations;
    • Represented the University on various community boards and in organizations;
    • Identified and secured additional student scholarship funding;
    • Formed collaborations with agencies and corporations to support student and faculty initiatives, internships, service learning, and student employment;
    • Worked on the planning and development of the Human Rights initiative in Stamford;
    • Worked toward the establishment of the new residential student housing master lease; and
    • Supported efforts to establish new majors in Stamford in areas such as Business and Digital Media.

    In the coming weeks, we will outline the process for the search that will be used to select the next UConn Stamford Campus Director. Please join us in extending our sincere appreciation to Dr. White for her service and longstanding contributions to UConn and, more specifically, to UConn Stamford. We wish her well in her future endeavors as she pursues her love of writing.
