Management/exempt employees and employees in the UCPEA bargaining unit may carry a maximum of 60 vacation days as of the close of business on December 31st of each calendar year. On rare occasions exceptions to this policy may be warranted. Thus, individuals with balances over 60 days may request approval to carry the excess vacation time into the succeeding calendar year. This permission must be granted in writing by the President, Provost, Vice Provost or Vice President (as applicable). UCPEA employees should refer to Article 6 of their union contract for specific language regarding the carryover of excessive vacation time.
Management/exempt and UCPEA employees have online, self-service access to their accrual balances through the University’s Time and Attendance System (TAS). As such, employees will no longer receive reminders regarding excessive vacation balances since this information is readily available online. Employees are encouraged to closely monitor the accrual and usage of their vacation time, and to seek required carryover approval as necessary by January 31st of each year.
