  • 4/14 UConn Hosting Capitol Event to Urge Budget Support

University of Connecticut students, researchers, and others will gather TODAY (Tuesday) at the State Capitol to showcase UConn’s academic excellence and urge lawmakers to continue budgetary support of its programs.

The event, hosted by the UConn Undergraduate Student Government, will include displays of researchers’ work as a reminder of the enormous benefits that UConn generates for the state – particularly as lawmakers consider proposed cuts to the University’s block grant.

The news conference will feature UConn students, President Susan Herbst, legislators and other guests. The event coincides with the General Assembly’s annual “Husky Day,” in which members of the NCAA Champion UConn Women’s Basketball team and other teams will visit the Capitol.
