    UConn’s Center for Educational Policy Analysis will host “An Agenda for Connecticut’s Next Education Commissioner” on Thursday, April 23, 2015.

    The event will bring to the UConn Storrs campus prominent educational stakeholders for a discussion focused on future directions for Connecticut’s schools.

    Gov. Dannel Malloy is in the final stages of selecting Connecticut’s new commissioner for education. This decision is a critical one for the state’s districts, schools, educators, and children. What should constitute the new commissioner’s agenda? And how could the new commissioner engage effectively with reformers and educators?

    Four of the state’s most influential stakeholders will present their views:

    • Donald E. Williams Jr., Deputy Director of Policy, Research, and Reform at the Connecticut Education Association
    • Stephen McKeever, First Vice President of American Federation of Teachers Connecticut
    • Joseph Cirasuolo, Executive Director of the Connecticut Association of Public School Superintendents (CAPSS)
    • Jennifer Alexander, CEO of ConnCAN
