Research, Funding, and Awards

  • The Undergraduate Awards

Do you have students writing exceptional papers this semester?  They may be good candidates for the Undergraduate Awards International Competition -- please pass along this information!

    Register: NOW

    Deadline: May 29, 2015

The Undergraduate Awards is the world’s only pan-discipline academic awards program that identifies leading creative thinkers through their undergraduate coursework. As well as going to Dublin, Ireland for an all-expenses-paid trip to receive their medal, recipients are provided with the support, network and opportunities they require to raise their profiles and further their career paths.

Juniors, seniors and recent graduates are invited to submit “A” papers that were written for a course and are consistent with the UA guidelines and discipline categories (see www.undergraduateawards.com).  Visual arts candidates submit a portfolio and artist’s statement.

All entries are judged anonymously (without reference to your name or university).  Students are encouraged to REGISTER to apply well before the May deadline, as application spots fill quickly.  You may register even before your coursework is prepared for submission if you anticipate applying.

    Papers should:

    • Represent the highest standard of intellectual and scholarly achievement
    • Embody a piece of independent and original work
    • Take the form of a text-based essay/project, with images/graphics where relevant
    • Take the form of a critical/analytical discourse

Visual artists should refer to the visual arts criteria page online: http://www.undergraduateawards.com/submission/visual-arts-category/

Students may submit a maximum of 3 papers/projects.  There are word count limits (by discipline). Only whole and complete papers/projects will be accepted, but you may submit a modified/shortened version of your original essay/project.
