  • Spring Break Dissertation Boot Camp

    March 17th-20th

    9am - 4pm each day

    Storrs Campus, Exact Location TBD

                                                                               ***advance registration required***
                                                                            ***limited to dissertation writers only***

This event is modeled on Stanford's dissertation boot camp for graduate students at the dissertation stage.

Participants will arrive with a draft of the chapters they are working on and their laptops, along with any notes or books. There will not be any tutoring or any lectures, and Internet access will be limited. The point is to make a commitment to sustained writing time.

Space is limited to the first 25 who register. To both reserve your spot and to help create an incentive for you to write for each of the four days, you must register through Eventbrite (link below) and submit a $50 check ahead of time. Your check must be made payable to the University of Connecticut and must be turned in to Margie Ouimette in Suite 108, Fl 1 of the Homer Babbidge Library, at least 1 week prior to the event (by Tuesday March 10th). If you attend each day for at least half a day, you get your check back, uncashed. If, however, you do not attend each day for at least half the day, we will cash your check and use the funds for future retreats.

*A very special addition to this boot camp that we are very excited about is midday yoga! Our fellow graduate student and boot camp participant, Tosca Braun, will be leading us through yoga in the Kripalu tradition, emphasizing mindful awareness and self-compassion. All skill levels are welcome, no prior yoga experience is necessary. If you would like to participate, please dress comfortably and bring your yoga mat, if you have one.
