    Living Well with Hearing Loss and Hearing Aids Program

    Spring 2015

     

    Dr. Nancy C. McMahon, AuD, CCC-A, and graduate students in the Doctor of Audiology program are offering, this spring, the Living Well with Hearing Loss and Hearing Aids Program at the UCONN Speech and Hearing Clinic, 850 Bolton Road, Storrs.  The purpose of the three-session program is to educate those who may be experiencing a decrease in hearing and/or those who have been diagnosed with a hearing loss and are utilizing hearing aids.  

                  Sessions will be two hours long and meet from 10:00 a.m. – Noon in the DCP Building Room 107

    Topics to be covered include:

     Understanding your hearing loss:  Learn about how the ear works, how to interpret the audiogram, and about the nature and impact of various kinds of hearing losses

    February 11

     

    Hearing Aids and You:  Review different types of hearing aids and how they function, and how to care for your hearing aids and ear molds

    March 11

     

    Living Well with Your Hearing Loss:  Discuss strategies for how to better communicate, for those with or without hearing loss, and get information about assistive devices useful for people with hearing loss

    April 15

     

      Please contact the UCONN Speech and Hearing Clinic at 860-486-2629 to register.  Attendance at all classes is not necessary.  Program is such that an individual may attend one, two, or all three.  The UCONN Speech and Hearing Clinic is a full service audiology and speech language pathology facility offering services to infants through adults in need of  speech, language and hearing evaluation and treatment.
