  • 1/28 Data Privacy Month Is Here

January 28th is designated internationally as Data Privacy Day.  Data Privacy Day is an annual effort to empower people to protect their privacy and control their digital footprint, as well as escalate the protection of privacy and data as everyone's priority.  However, one day simply isn’t enough to cover everything going on out there in a world of Big Data, big breaches, MOOCs, drones, wearable technologies, the Internet of Things and other budding technologies constantly on the horizon.  Instead, we celebrate January 28-February 28 as Data Privacy Month with the hope of focusing on various topics all month long.

As part of this annual event, the Compliance Office is joining the effort and partnering with our peers in higher education and industry experts to heighten awareness about privacy and data security resources.  Follow us here on the Daily Digest, on the UConn Privacy Blog and on Twitter (@UConnPrivacy).  All month long we will be posting practical pointers, providing training and offering tools to help you protect yourself, your family, your students and the University from identity theft, to make well-reasoned choices about what information you share online, and to make educated decisions about where, when and how you store personal data.  Questions about data privacy or information security?  Particular topics you would like us to cover?  Let us know!
