Gates, Schwarzman, Fulbright, Rhodes and Marshall: Prestigious Scholarships for Graduate Study Abroad

Please join us for an information session and panel discussion featuring major competitions for graduate study abroad. We will introduce the much-anticipated Schwarzman Scholarship to study at Tsinghua University in Beijing, explain the nomination process to complete for a Marshall or Rhodes Scholarship, outline the application for the Gates Cambridge Scholarship, and provide an overview of the U.S. Student Fulbright Program. Strong students from any discipline may prove eligible and competitive – don’t self-eliminate! Sophomores, Juniors, Seniors: Even if you are unsure about your graduate path, don’t wait to find out what you would need to take advantage of these amazing opportunities!

The Fulbright U.S. Student Program is the largest U.S. exchange program offering opportunities for graduating seniors and recent graduates to undertake international graduate study, independent research, and primary and secondary school teaching worldwide. The program currently awards approximately 1,900 grants annually in all fields of study, and operates in more than 140 countries worldwide. Applications open in April 2015 for the 2016/17 program. Interested juniors and seniors should attend.
STEM Predoctoral Fellowship Workshop

The Office of National Scholarships & Fellowships and the Graduate school invite first year graduate students to attend a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) Predoctoral Fellowship workshop.
The focus of this workshop is on applying to and winning prestigious fellowships such as the National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship program (http://www.nsfgrfp.org/ ), the National Defense Science Engineering Fellowship (http://ndseg.asee.org/ ), Hertz Foundation Physical, Biological and Engineering Sciences Fellowships (http://www.hertzfoundation.org/ )
The workshop will help students understand the application components; will provide tips on how to best address NSF selection criteria of “intellectual merit” and “broader impacts.”

Interested in going to Graduate School? This is the workshop for you! Come learn about the purpose and perks of graduate school, the application process and finding “The Sweet Spot”! This is guaranteed to be a fun, interactive and informational workshop. Be sure to bring questions. In addition, we’ll add a brief presentation on National Fellowships and Scholarships to consider when you apply to graduate school. (Juniors strongly encouraged to attend)
