To Deans, Directors and Department Heads,
This is to inform you that from Tuesday, January 27 through Friday, February 6, the consulting firm ERM will be conducting a comprehensive Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) audit on the Storrs, Regional and Law School campuses. The focus of this external audit is an evaluation of UConn’s EHS compliance and an assessment of the effectiveness of its EHS management systems and programs. To the extent that your unit is a resource for the auditors to provide feedback on EHS-related issues and to make determinations about the operational effectiveness of UConn's Division of Environmental Health and Safety, we ask that you notify your faculty, students and staff to be available during this time to assist in their inspections.
Inspections may occur at several operations and facilities, including laboratories, service, maintenance and production facilities, research and academic shops, dining facilities, theater and art facilities, and other areas where health and safety hazards may be present. In addition, administrative units may be contacted to request information or to meet with staff. For site visits, the auditors will be escorted by staff from the Division of Environmental Health and Safety.
We will keep you informed as more specific information, such as the schedule or other details, is provided or requested.
