  • Employee Assistance Program Now On Storrs Campus

Faculty, staff and their eligible family members now have access to a full service Employee Assistance Program (EAP) with an office on the Storrs Campus, in the Arjona Building, Room 136. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm.

Gary Alger, a nationally certified EA professional (CEAP) and Connecticut licensed mental health professional, arrived on Campus July 1st and was introduced by Elizabeth Robinson, Director of EAP at UConn Health. From the first day Gary has been making his way around, meeting people throughout the campus community to promote the benefits of the newly enhanced program. He has met many of the University’s administrative and academic officials, as well as leaders and rank and file members from the collective bargaining units.

Employee Assistance provides confidential, free, brief counseling to help identify and resolve personal, family or work related concerns. Gary is also available by invitation to meet with departments, programs or other groups to discuss common areas of concern. In addition EAP staff offer educational workshops on a variety of topics for personal or professional growth. This fall over 170 staff and faculty either attended, or are scheduled for, one of several sessions of a program that has gained considerable interest, entitled “Positive Energy at Work: Finding it, Keeping it, Sharing it.”
