President’s Series on Teaching Excellence
What makes a great teacher? Do our best teachers inspire, challenge, and occasionally even irritate their students? Long-time Professor Sam Pickering posed the following question in his musings on teaching: could real life teaching actually be more entertaining and eyebrow-raising than fiction? Join your colleagues for a lively and engaging lecture and discussion about the essence of what it takes to be an excellent teacher. Professor Pickering’s lecture, entitled ‘From My Side of the Desk’ will follow Introductory remarks by President Susan Herbst in the first inaugural address in this series on teaching excellence.
