    THE TOPIC FOR DISCUSSION: 
    Unexpected Beauty: Art in Chemistry
    Beauty through chemical and biological processes
    The topic relates to the Benton's new exhibition CHEM 101: The Science of Photography.

    THE PANELISTS
    Michael Astrachan, President and Creative Director, XVIVO Scientific Animation. As a leader in the field of scientific animation and medical imaging, Astrachan has developed and directed animation for most of the large pharmaceutical companies and has been involved in medical educational projects.

    Ellen Carey, artist and Associate Professor at Hartford Art School. Carey approaches photography as a process of picture-making rather than picture-taking.

    THE MODERATOR
    Challa Vijaya (VJ) Kumar, Professor of Biological and Physical Chemistry at UConn, whose areas of specialization include photochemistry, protein photoscissors, and nanochemistry.  

    ADMISSION to the Salon is free. Donations are gratefully accepted. 
    DOOR PRIZES include gift certificates from the restaurants at the Nathan Hale Inn and Dog Lane Café.
