In this 50-minute workshop, we will address and discuss the usage and placement of the articles a, an and the (ie: a study, an approach, the study). Articles are one of the most challenging grammatical issues to master in English acquisition. This is partly due to transfer from a student’s native/first language, which may lack articles (ie: Chinese, Korean, Russian). In addition, many languages use articles quite differently from English (ie: Arabic, Spanish). This is an interactive workshop that consists of brief instruction followed by exercises and drills that will help raise students’ self-editing abilities. All levels of English are welcome!
