Arts, Culture, and Entertainment

  • Been to the Benton lately?

If you haven't been to the Benton lately, take a break and come on over. Here's what we're exhibiting this summer:

    Ronnie Wood: Art and Music
Best known as a musician with The Rolling Stones, Ronnie Wood is also an accomplished artist who works in a variety of media and exhibits regularly in galleries and museums around the world. This exhibition features his paintings, lithographs, and pen-and-ink drawings as well as portraits of his fellow band members, self-portraits, and an exclusive video greeting he made just for Benton visitors.

Stagecraft: 50 Years of Design at Hartford Stage
In celebration of Hartford Stage Company’s 50th anniversary season, The Benton is presenting an exemplary selection of costumes and props from such productions as Twelfth Night, A Christmas Carol, and Hedda Gabler. As the final stop on a statewide tour, the museum has the distinction of hosting additional costumes surrounded by scenic elements and an exclusive behind-the-scenes video featuring Mike Stotts, managing director of the theatre company, and major players from their most loved productions.

    The Best of The Benton
This ongoing installation proudly showcases the finest works in the Benton collection: works by Albrecht Dürer, Rembrandt Peale, Mary Cassatt, Käthe Kollwitz, Maurice Prendergast, Reginald Marsh, Benjamin West, and Ernest Lawson among others.

Admission is always FREE. Donations are gratefully accepted.
Museum hours are Tuesday-Friday 10-4:30, Saturday and Sunday 1-4:30

    PLEASE NOTE:
THE MUSEUM WILL BE CLOSED JULY 4-6.
