  • Become a Docent at The Benton

Do you have an interest in art? Enjoy learning? Would you like to share your knowledge and enthusiasm with museum visitors?

If you've answered YES to these questions, consider becoming a docent at the William Benton Museum of Art.

Applications for new docents are being considered now through June 13, 2014. Individuals from all backgrounds and those who are bilingual are encouraged to apply.

    ABOUT THE DOCENT PROGRAM
Docents are a vital part of the museum’s education program. They welcome visitors of all ages and help them explore, understand and appreciate art of all genres. Docents may also give talks outside the museum through community outreach. Research for background information on museum exhibitions and acquisitions is also part of the work docents perform.

The Docent Program at The Benton meets for two-hour training sessions most Tuesday mornings from mid-September through early May. Museum staff, docents and guest lecturers lead the trainees in the study of the history of art; the elements of art; museum education; and the study of the Museum's collection.

Interested candidates are encouraged to visit www.thebenton.org/edu_docent.php or contact Tracy Lawlor, Education Coordinator, Tracy.Lawlor@UConn.edu.
