Research, Funding, and Awards

  • Funding Opportunity-Mallinckrodt Grants

The Office of the Vice President for Research (OVPR) plays a central role in the continuing success and development of the faculty’s research, scholarship, and creative endeavors through its leadership and support services in Research Administration and Research Development.  A critical mechanism for cultivating research development and enhancing research capacity is to foster interdisciplinary collaborations with diverse academic partners and institutions.  To this end, the OVPR will be conducting an internal screening process in support of the Edward Mallinckrodt, Jr., Foundation – Mallinckrodt Grants.

Edward Mallinckrodt, Jr., Foundation - Mallinckrodt Grants

The Edward Mallinckrodt, Jr. Foundation is a private foundation that funds basic biomedical research in St. Louis and throughout the United States.  The mission of the Foundation is to support early stage investigators engaged in biomedical research that has the potential to significantly advance the understanding, diagnosis, or treatment of disease.

Any domestic biomedical institution, whether solely research or educational, is invited to submit two candidates for the Mallinckrodt Board's consideration.  Applicants should be in the first to fourth year of their tenure track faculty position and not have current R01 funding. Grants are usually $60,000 and funding commences on October 1.

    Limited Submission

Because a limited number of applications can be submitted for the following programs, an internal screening process may be required.  If you are considering submitting an application for this program, an on-line Notification of Intent to Submit must be completed by the requested Intent to Submit Deadline.

When submitting pre-proposals for the internal screening process, be sure to check the Guidelines for updates. Pre-proposals not adhering to these guidelines and instructions will be returned.
