TAULA: Urban Workshop of the Americas/Taller Urbano de las Americas

"The Civic Imagination: A comparative ethnography across the Americas." Panel presentation by Gianpaolo Baiocchi (NYU), Elizabeth Bennett, Alissa Cordner, Peter Klein and Stephanie Savell (Brown University).

For a year, five scholars from Brown (departments of sociology, anthropology and political science) joined seven local civic organizations to answer these questions, and to see how Americans understand, talk about, and act out their visions for change. The authors’ findings challenge contemporary assertions of American apathy. The book is also an important contribution to imagine and understand how to do ethnographical comparative and collaborative research.
