Statistical analysis of neural spike train data
ABSTRACT
Over the last five decades, progress in recording techniques has allowed the number of simultaneously recorded neurons to double approximately every 7 years. Linking this growing body of data to brain functions, such as perception, behavior, and learning, requires new methods for statistical data analysis. In this talk I will give an overview of some of the statistical problems involved in analyzing neural "spike trains" with a special emphasis on Bayesian approaches to 1) inferring interactions between neurons and 2) decoding sensory and motor information present in neural activity.
