UConn Opera Theater presents their final opera of the season, and one of the staples of the operatic canon, Rossini’s Il barbiere di Siviglia (The Barber of Seville) on Friday, March 28 at 7:30 and Sunday, March 30 at 3:00 in the Nafe Katter Theatre, UConn Storrs Campus.

Set in the Spanish city of Seville, the wealthy Count Almaviva (disguised as a poor student in order to ensure that he is loved for himself not his money) works to woo the lovely Rosina who is the ward of the elderly Dr. Bartolo. Their love seems doomed to fail since Bartolo has designs to marry the young Rosina himself. With the help of Figaro – the barber of Seville and self-described “factotum” to the entire city – Count Almaviva and Rosina work to out-smart Bartolo and find happiness with each other. Composed in 1816, this comic opera contains some of the most memorable operatic music and moments of all time. You will not want to miss this theatrical and musical masterpiece!

Il barbiere di Siviglia will run for two shows only at the Nafe Katter Theatre on Friday, March 28 at 7:30pm and Sunday, March 30 at 3:00pm. Tickets are $20 for regular admission, $14 for seniors and UConn staff, and $10 for students.
