  • 4/15 Peter Constantine, "Translating the Classics"

    One of the foremost translators working in the United States today, Peter Constantine, will be visiting UConn on April 14th and 15th. Mr. Constantine has translated a spectacular variety of works ranging from Sophocles' Oedipus Cycle and Machiavelli's major works to Voltaire's Candide and works of Thomas Mann and Anton Chekhov. He has garnered the top prizes and honors in translation, and is a Fellow at Columbia University.  He will give a public talk titled "Translating the Classics" on Tuesday, April 15, from 4 to 6PM (Oak Hall 236). A reception will follow. 

     

    Mr. Constantine will also conduct a workshop in translation studies for graduate students on Monday, April 14 from 2 to 4 PM (Oak Hall 236).  To RSVP, please contact Sarah Winter (sarah.winter@uconn.edu).
