  • Associate Vice President for Research Development

    The Office of the Vice President for Research is very pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Ali Andalibi as Associate Vice President for Research Development following a nationwide search.

    Dr. Andalibi most recently served as Associate Vice President for Research at Stony Brook University. Prior to that, he was Vice President for Research and Chief Scientific Officer at the Los Angeles Biomedical Research Institute at Harbor UCLA Medical Center.  Dr. Andalibi also spent several years as Program Director and Head for the Therapeutics and Diagnostics Section in the National Cancer Institute’s SBIR Development Center in Bethesda, MD.  He has served as a Program Director at the National Science Foundation within the Division of Industrial Innovation and Partnerships, where he managed the NSF’s medical biotechnology SBIR/STTR portfolio.  Dr. Andalibi earned his Ph.D. in Biology from UCLA. 

    Dr. Andalibi will direct research development activities in the Office of the Vice President for Research and lead programs to grow UConn faculty research funding, including support for increasing proposal quality and quantity, better communication of research and research opportunities, enhancement of collaborative/team science, increase diversification of funding sources for faculty, and enhance and improve technology transfer capacities.  He will also facilitate the growth of major research, scholarly and creative endeavors through supporting the development of high-impact disciplinary and multidisciplinary projects involving, as appropriate, major external funding.  These projects will engage faculty and researchers at the University of Connecticut, including the Health Center, regional campuses, as well as other research institutions. 

    Dr. Ali Andalibi’s appointment commences March 1, 2014.  Please join us in welcoming him to the UConn community.
