A Journey through Germany’s Transition of Oppression to Liberation: A Social Work Perspective
Thursday, March 27, 2014
12:45-2:00pm
Zachs Community Room
Lunch will be served
In January 2014, thirteen UConn SSW students traveled to Germany to explore the historical and current consequences of Nazi Germany and its aftermath. Understanding how such oppression can happen in an age of modernity is important as it helps to ensure that such a thing never happens again. As social workers it is crucial to understand the history, theory and multiple perspectives on previous and current social reactions in order to effect change. Students in their research groups will present the findings of their research project that they began while they were in Germany.
