  • Pre-Employment Criminal Background Check Program

Effective February 1, 2014 the current Pre-Employment Criminal Background Check program will be expanded to include checks for ALL newly-hired regular payroll faculty and staff positions, as well as Adjunct Faculty, Special Payroll Lecturers, and Special Payroll Instructional Specialists.

The University of Connecticut prides itself on hiring qualified employees who are prepared to work in the best interests of the University and its students.  Pre-employment criminal background checks serve as an important element of the University’s ongoing efforts to ensure a safe and secure campus and workplace. The use of criminal history information in the hiring process will be in accordance with all relevant laws and regulations including those requiring equal employment opportunity and prohibiting discrimination on the basis of race, sex, national origin and other protected classes.

The approved Pre-Employment Criminal Background Check Policy is available at: http://policy.uconn.edu/?=3218.

More information regarding the implementation of this program will be forthcoming.
