UITS has undertaken the task of decommissioning the mainframe system. The goal of the project is to downsize the IBM z10 mainframe computer in a strategic manner. This includes:
- migrating business information in legacy applications to alternate technology
- eliminating these data from the mainframe
- identifying alternative solutions for applications still operating on the mainframe
The project’s website, mainframe.uconn.edu, has been created to provide valuable material such as: the project timeline, subprojects, status reports, and other relevant information.
We are asking for your help to identify all applications that are currently running on the mainframe. If you are currently using, or have historical data stored on the mainframe, please contact us at uits.mainframe@uconn.edu.
