    What are Teaching talks?

Join us for an hour of your day to connect with your colleagues. These sessions serve as a springboard for discussions around a topic related to teaching and learning, but really give you the chance to share the successes and challenges you are facing in our new teaching reality. Each session has a topical theme but is shaped by the participants’ discussion, needs, and interests.

The thematic focus for this particular session is…

Centering Equity and Inclusion While Teaching Remotely

As educators, our abrupt transition to remote teaching necessitated a quick rethinking of our syllabi, assessments, and modes of content delivery.  As we struggle with the ongoing changed reality of our daily work life, so do our students.  Now that our classes are running, we can focus on addressing questions that are more critical than ever:  How can we best support all our students in light of stark inequities in their learning environments?  How can we bring a commitment to equity and inclusion into the online learning format?

    Proposed Objectives

    1. Purpose:  Discuss our purpose as educators in this moment and the ways in which we might need to adapt
    2.  Strategies: Share practical examples of solutions that are working in our online classrooms
    3.  Support: Strengthen our support networks and collective commitment to equity by sharing our experiences.
    4.  Planning: Given more time to plan for future online classes, share ideas for creating meaningful learning experiences and enhanced social connection.
