  • 2/6 In Memoriam: Passing of Lyndsay Nalbandian

It is with great sadness that I inform you that on February 6, 2020, UConn staff member, Lyndsay Nalbandian passed away. She was a colleague and friend to many at the University of Connecticut and we are heartbroken by her loss. Lyndsay graduated from UConn with a degree in English in 2000. In 2004, she was a secretary and assistant to the Dean of the School of Nursing for two years and then became a secretary in the Office of the Vice Provost for Research & Graduate Education for a year. For nearly a decade, starting in 2007, Lyndsay became a pivotal part of the Student Activities Programs Office. In 2014, she took over the new position of program assistant to the Human Rights Institute, where she worked until her death in early February. Lyndsay was a beloved member of the UConn community and will be missed by all who knew and worked with her.

A recognition event was being planned in Lyndsay’s honor to take place in early April. Due to recent restrictions on gatherings and, out of concern for the health and well-being of those attending, we will reschedule the event to be held in the fall.

While many of her colleagues learned of news of Lyndsay’s untimely death through departmental networks, this may be the first time some in the community are learning that she passed away.  Please feel free to reach out to Kathryn Libal, HRI’s Director, if you have ideas about how we can best honor Lyndsay. Details will be shared through the Daily Digest and departmental networks when we announce the new date for Lyndsay’s recognition gathering.
