Faculty/Staff Daily Digest

As you know, FYE seminars are a high impact practice correlated with higher student satisfaction, success and retention. We are proud that UConn has one of the highest first to second year retention rates for public universities in the nation at 93%! It takes a community to make this happen and that is where you come in!

We offer a small number of FYE sections (UNIV-1800) and many sections of 1-credit special topics FYE/UNIV 1820 courses in the Spring semester. We feel that these are great courses for any 1^st or 2^nd year student, especially those that have yet to take a FYE course yet, including any new incoming transfer student and/or campus change student. 

There are a number of great topic-based FYE courses like:

• “Diving into the Archives,” taught by Patrick Butler from Archives & Special Collections
• “History & Culture of Ireland,” taught by Professor Brendan Kane & Sinead Murray 
• “Privilege & Possibility” taught by our Associate Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students,Eleanor JB Daugherty
• We also have a new course geared towards our international students!
