  • Environmental Lit (E) Courses - Important Info

Please help the General Education Oversight Committee (GEOC) to spread the word about courses that have been approved for Environmental Literacy (E) by forwarding the following information to anyone in your department, school, or college who advises undergraduate students.

Quite a few courses have currently been approved for Environmental Literacy, but due to limitations in Student Admin, not all of these course are currently able to reflect their E status. A complete list of courses that will fulfill Environmental Literacy is available on GEOC's website. Please see PDFs at https://geoc.uconn.edu/approved-gen-ed-courses/

GEOC is working with the Office of the Registrar to try and find a solution for reflecting E courses in Student Admin, but for now please be aware that courses may or may not have the E attached to their number when you search for them. Neverthless, if they are on the lists at the link above, they are approved for E, and students will receive Environmental Literacy credit regardless. Students should be informed that the E may never show up on their transcript, but they are still receiving credit for it.

Anyone with additional questions or concerns can contact GEOC Chair Manuela Wagner (manuela.wagner@uconn.edu) or GEOC Program Assistant Karen McDermott (karen.piantek@uconn.edu)
