UConn will be offering a free flamenco concert/lecture entitled: "Al-Andalus, a Musical Journey" next Monday, October 14 at 5pm.
Join flamenco guitarist Oscar Herrero (Madrid) and prof. Nicola Carpentieri (Arabic and Islamic Studies, UConn), for a journey into the fascinating music and culture of medieval Spain. The concert/lecture combines world-class flamenco guitar with readings from the most striking pages in the history and literature of al-Andalus.
The event will take place at the Dodd Research Center - Konover auditorium, from 5pm until about 6.30pm. It is free and open for all, both UConn affiliates and not.
