Dear Colleagues,
It is our great pleasure to announce that Dr. Claudia Arias-Cirinna has accepted the position of Associate Dean of Students/Director of Student Care and Concern.
This newly created position is designed to serve as a campus leader facilitating campus support of our students of greatest concern. In this role, Claudia will chair the Student Care team, serve as a case manager, and advise the regional campuses on how best to support at-risk students. Claudia will also advise the newly formed Connectedness and Wellbeing teams for Storrs.
This position of Associate Dean of Students/Director of Student Care and Concern will report directly to Elly Daugherty, Associate Vice President of Student Affairs and Dean of Students, and serve on Elly’s senior leadership team. I know we all look forward to Claudia’s leadership in this new role at UConn. Claudia will begin in this position on October 11.
Now in her 6th year at UConn, Claudia has been an asset to the Division of Student Affairs in numerous ways. Initially entering the University as an Assistant Dean of Students, Claudia participated in the transformation of that office and strengthened our work in student support. In 2016, Claudia transitioned to the position of Director of Residence Education where she led a dynamic team of staff in one of the region’s largest residential programs.
During Claudia’s tenure at UConn she has successfully taken on new challenges and opportunities. Pam and I are appreciative of her abilities and willingness to help the Division advance our goal for Student Health and Wellbeing.
