Youth Led Movements: Making Waves in Today’s Political Climate

    with Cameron Kasky

    Monday, September 30th, 7:00PM

     Dodd Center Konover Auditorium

Kasky is a former student of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida who couples lessons from the classroom with real world experiences in civics, politics and media. The tragic Parkland shooting changed the trajectory of Cameron’s life from talented student to nationally-recognized activist. His hopeful response in the face of national tragedy has made him a voice for his generation, issuing a wake up call to those in positions of authority. It catapulted him onto the national political stage, where he speaks to all who will listen about mechanisms of change and the tools of social justice. Kasky has appeared across multiple media outlets, including CNN, Fox News, The New Yorker, and TIME Magazine.

Guided by its core principles, the Leadership Office at the University of Connecticut facilitates educational and experiential initiatives that challenge individuals and organizations to explore, strengthen, and elevate their character, leadership and ability to contribute as global citizens. The Leadership Legacy Experience is the University’s most prestigious leadership development program; through lectures, discussions and presentations, the Leadership Legacy Speaker Series offers the campus community access to renowned scholars and leaders who explore critical issues of the day.
