  • Summer Genetics Program for Ages 12-18

    LEDGE, or Laboratory Experience and Diagnostic Genetics Education, is a series of workshops for middle and high school age students to learn more about clinical, or diagnostic, genetics while networking with top-tier female geneticists in our area. The program is free for students ages 12-18, with workshops in July tailored for those 15-18 years old and workshops in August for those 12-14 years old. Students are welcome to attend as many workshops as they want in the given monthly series, as each week’s topic is different. 

     

    Topics include: 

    -Introduction to Genetics and Polygenic Traits
    -Genetic Testing
    -Cancer Genetics
    -Performance/Exercise Genetics

     

    Locations are as follows:

    July - Storrs, CT 
    Ages: 15-18    Location:   Koons Hall, Room 001  University of Connecticut  Storrs, CT 06269 


    August - Brooklyn, CT 
    Ages: 12-14    Location:  Lower Conference Room  UConn Extension Center  139 Wolf Den Rd, Brooklyn 06234
