Human Resources and Benefits

  • Storrs EAP Transition

Please join the Department of Human Resources in congratulating Gary Alger on his upcoming retirement. Gary has served the Storrs campus in the Employee Assistance Program since 2014. Gary has been a valuable addition to the Storrs campus, providing assessment, support, and brief counseling to UConn employees and their families experiencing a wide range of personal problems.

Beginning July 1, David Francis will join the Storrs campus as our on-site EAP counselor; David has been part of the UConn Health EAP Program since 2006.

EAP is a worksite-based program sponsored by the Department of Human Resources. This free and confidential service for employees and their household dependents provides private assessment, brief counseling and/or referrals for additional services to assist with personal and/or work-related problems that could potentially impact job performance, health, mental and emotional well-being. Such concerns may include stress, financial issues, legal issues, family problems, office conflicts, and alcohol or substance abuse, to name a few. EAP also works with supervisors and managers to provide proactive planning for, and intervention in, situations such as organizational changes and in response to traumatic events.
