  • 6/19 Introduction to Tableau Public using IPEDS data

Tableau Public is a free version of Tableau business intelligence/visual analytics software, which allows anyone to explore and present any quantitative information in compelling, interactive visualizations. The Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS) collects information on admissions and graduation rates, financial indicators (revenue by source, endowment assets, expenses by function, etc.), faculty, staff, and student characteristics, pricing and tuition, academic library indicators (collections, staffing, and expenditures) and many other measures from virtually every college and university in the United States. In this hands-on session you will learn to use explore and download IPEDS data and use it with Tableau Public to create online interactive bar graphs, scatterplots, thematic maps and much more, which can be linked to or embedded in blogs or on web sites.
