  • 4/12 Marijuana and Pregnancy: Human Volunteers Needed

    Drs. Ruth Lucas and Heather Evans are seeking volunteers to be part of a confidential research study. This research is being done at the University of Connecticut at Storrs or University of Connecticut Health Center in Farmington and is evaluating pain sensitivity and risk-taking in among pregnant women using marijuana.

    Participation will include completing questionnaires about your pregnancy, a sensory assessment, having your blood drawn, and urine drug testing. You will make a visit during each trimester for a total of 3 visits to complete the study.

    You may be eligible to participate if you are:

    • between the ages of 18-45 years,
    • pregnant with no other children living in their home,
    • within the first trimester,
    • carrying a singleton baby, using marijuana,

    You will not be eligible if you have:

    • have pregnancy-related complications,
    • use other drugs such as opiates

    You will receive a $150 total ($40 each trimester visit) and $30 if you complete the entire study. For more information, please call the MJ-pregnancy research at (860) 420-3344
