Come see UConn Opera Theatre's spring performance! Bessie and Ma is world premiere of a chamber opera about pioneer African-American aviator Bessie Coleman by Douglas Buchanan, winner of the 2017 Raymond and Beverly Sackler Prize in Composition with libretto by Caitlin Vincent. The premiere of Bessie and Ma will be preceded by Henry Purcell's beloved Dido and Aeneas, a tragically beautiful drama.
