The Women of Color Faculty and Staff organization is planning their inaugural retreat for faculty and staff. The event is scheduled for May 23, 2019, from 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Fitch House in Mansfield, CT. Sponsored by the Office for Diversity and Inclusion and the UConn Women’s Center, this retreat is an important effort in our collective strategies to retain our women of color as faculty and staff members. Moreover, it reflects the University’s commitment to excellence and inclusiveness as well as progress toward creating a welcoming climate for women of color. The program includes guest speakers, small group discussions and roundtables, as well as rejuvenating wellness activities that promote positive self-care. This is a professional development opportunity for women at all levels of the University to expand skills, increase knowledge, and enhance networks to promote a more inclusive and supportive working and learning environment at the University.
