  • From The Graduate School: New Rule Approved by GFC

New Rule Facilitating Completion of Both Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees

The Graduate Faculty Council (GFC) recently approved a new rule that will encourage UConn undergraduates to remain at UConn after completing their undergraduate degree to complete a masters or other graduate degree.  The new rule will facilitate completion of both the undergraduate and graduate degree within less time.  Under the new rule, undergraduates who take certain graduate courses while an undergraduate will be able to count up to 12 credits of such coursework toward both their undergraduate degree and a graduate degree.  To qualify, the graduate courses must be either (1) required of all students in the graduate program, or (2) approved for credit-sharing for that program by the Executive Committee of The Graduate School.  (Required courses are courses designated by specific number (e.g., ECON 5301) in the Graduate Catalog as being required of all students in a given graduate program.)

For questions regarding this new rule and its implementation, contact Kathleen Segerson (kathleen.segerson@uconn.edu), Associate Dean of The Graduate School.
