Preferred/Display Name Now Printing on UConn ID
All UConn ID cards (Husky One Cards) are now being issued with a preferred name on the back of the card. You can view and update this name on the ITS Display Name tool: https://netid.uconn.edu/tools/displayname/.
FAQs
- All new ID’s automatically have the display name on the back under the heading “Preferred Name”. If you have not chosen a display name that differs from your legal name, then the preferred name on the back of the ID will default to your legal name.
- The preferred name is considered an enhancement to the UConn ID and does not change it from a functional perspective. Therefore, the standard $20 fee will be applied if you want a new ID with the preferred name on the back.
- It is important to note that this display name is NOT the preferred name in Student Admin. All changes to the name shown on the back of your ID must be done through the ITS display name tool (the One Card Office cannot make this change for you). The preferred name will not be updated in the One Card system until the following day.
