Research, Funding, and Awards

  • AAUP/OVPR Faculty Travel Funding Update

The Office of the Vice President for Research (OVPR) would like to update faculty regarding the status of the AAUP/OVPR Faculty Travel fund.

As you may know, eligible travel requests are processed on a first-come, first-served basis until the funds allocated to support faculty travel (the AAUP Professional Development fund and the OVPR Faculty Travel fund) have been expended.  Due to unusually high demand early in the year, there are no more funds currently available for making awards.  While we have not yet formally closed the application process, we are not able to grant additional awards at this time.

We encourage faculty who have already received travel awards to submit all reimbursements within 60 days of travel, as provided by the guidelines, so that awards can be adjusted and any unused funds returned to the funding pool for recirculation.

OVPR Research Finance is reaching out to faculty and admin staff regarding awards that have not been fully reimbursed within the allotted time to facilitate any remaining reimbursements so the awards may be adjusted and closed in a timely manner.

If and when adjustments lead to additional funds being available to support faculty travel, the OVPR will go back and reopen previously declined, eligible requests and provide whatever funding we can, again on a first-come, first-served basis (due to guideline limitations, we can only do this for requests where the travel dates have not already occurred at the time funds become available).

    Thank you for your understanding.
