On Monday, January 21, 2019 the University will be observing the Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday. As we reflect on the meaning of Dr. King’s work and sacrifice, we must also meet our professional responsibility to provide services and support for new and returning students who may need to address academic matters. I am requesting, therefore, that student service and academic departmental offices remain open on Monday, January 21. I would further request that, within these parameters, Deans, Directors, and Department Heads establish staffing patterns which accommodate individual wishes to observe the holiday.
