  • SNMA Minority Mentorship Community Program (MMCP)

    Good morning residents and physicians,

SNMA is currently in the process of organizing our Minority Mentorship Community Program (MMCP), and we need you to sing up as a mentor.

The goals of the SNMA Community Mentor program is to connect University of Connecticut minority medical students to mentors and physicians; who will assist students in making informed decisions as they develop work-life balance, navigate medical school, and plan for residency and career.

There will be some formal events where mentors and mentees will meet to discuss progression through medical school as well as career choice. However, the program will be structured to set up communication.

My mentor in undergrad was a huge help to me. Although we only had a few formal meetings--having her phone number as a lifeline, and knowing her willingness to mentor me and write me recommendation letters were most influential to my success. The program will be set up to connect you to a group of students that will use you as a resource for everything medical.

Physicians and residents part of the program will be expected to attend two events planned for the mentorship program. So please clear your schedule for these two dates.

    February 2nd – pre-Superbowl Kick-off event

February 27th – Black history month event

We do hope that you will be able to be a part of this program.

Here is a brief 2-minute survey to give us an idea of how many students, residents and physicians that are interested in the program. The deadline to complete this survey is January 1st, but we ask that you complete it ASAP.
