Student Activities

  • Become an Alt Break Learning Partner

Take part in a unique opportunity to learn together with students and continue to grow professionally and personally! Become a staff Learning Partner on an Alternative Break this upcoming academic year!

Alternative Breaks are immersive experiences in which students volunteer on a weekend or week-long trip, completing meaningful service related to a social issue topic and reflecting nightly on their experience.  These trips are planned and led by student Trip Directors who develop their leadership experience and skills throughout the year with Community Outreach. Learning Partners participate in all aspects of the trips while also supporting student leadership and development, risk management, educational activities, and reflections.

For folks outside of the Department of Student Activities, we typically ask that you serve as secondary learning partner on one of our large, 54 person (4 staff, 5 student leaders, 45 participants) trips.

If you're interested in learning more about the role, please contact the Community Outreach Coordinator of Alternative Breaks.
