  • Chief Diversity Officer to Step Down

    To the UConn Community,

I write to share with you that Joelle Murchison has decided to step down as the university’s Associate Vice President & Chief Diversity Officer effective August 22, 2018.

Joelle was the first individual to hold this newly-created position at UConn and was hired following a national search. She did the hard work of setting up a new office, established important connections throughout the university, and led our ongoing efforts to support and enhance dialogue and awareness around diversity and inclusion at all levels.

From chairing our Diversity Council, to launching the Inclusive Excellence Lecture Series, to the hands-on approach she took in aiding our students impacted by the termination of the DACA program, we thank her for her service to UConn over the last two years, and wish her all the best.

Dana Wilder, who currently serves as Assistant Vice President for Diversity & Inclusion, will become the interim Chief Diversity Officer after Joelle steps down this summer.

I would like to thank Dana for his willingness to take on this important role on an interim basis.

A search for a permanent CDO will begin in September when students and faculty have returned to our campuses.

    Sincerely,

    Susan Herbst
