Colm Tóibín is one of Ireland’s greatest living writers. Tóibín’s
many awards include the Encore Award for The Heather
Blazing in 2002, the Dublin IMPAC Prize for The Master in
2012, the Costa Novel of the Year for Brooklyn in 2009, and
the Edgehill Prize for Mothers and Sons in 2006. His novels
The Blackwater Lightship and Brooklyn have both been
adapted into successful films. He is currently the Irene and
Sidney B. Silverman Professor of the Humanities at Columbia
and Chancellor of Liverpool University.
