Dear Colleagues,
As many of you may have already heard, Tracy Walters, who has served as the Director of Sponsored Program Services for the past three years is leaving his role at UConn on April 3 to return South where he will be joining Clemson University as the Director of Grants and Contracts Administration. Tracy has been a trusted advisor on research administration matters and has provided strong leadership of SPS Post Award Services. I am very grateful for Tracy’s service to UConn, and I know that I speak for the entire OVPR in wishing him the very best as he takes on new challenges and opportunities in his career.
Please stop by the first floor of the Whetten Graduate Center between 10:00 and noon next Tuesday, April 3, to wish Tracy farewell.
On April 4, the following interim measures will be effective to ensure adequate staff coverage and oversight of SPS post award duties while we recruit a permanent replacement for Tracy:
- Reporting to Laura Kozma, Jennifer Johnson will serve as the Interim Associate Director of Sponsored Program Services. Jen Johnson will have oversight of Team 2. In addition Jared Huckle (Team 3) and Joanne Frederick (SPS Finance) will report to her. Additional guidance will be forthcoming regarding Team Lead assistance for Team 2.
- Reporting to Laura Kozma, Daniela Parciasepe will continue to lead Team 4. Additionally, Matt Cahill (Team 1) will report to Daniela.
