    Learning-Science Author Coming to UConn!

Please join us in welcoming lead author, Peter Brown, who will be discussing, Make it Stick, The Science of Successful Learning. Written with co-authors Henry Roediger and Mark McDaniel, cognitive psychologists at Washington University, and published by Harvard University Press, Make it Stick has been translated into 14 foreign languages and has earned an avid following among centers for teaching excellence at colleges and universities, military trainers, coaches, and many other readers. James Lang, in The Chronicle of Higher Education, described Make it Stick as “[The] single best work I have encountered on recent findings about the human brain and how we learn.” Peter made his living as a management consultant and took up writing books as a second career. Make it Stick is his fifth book, and his first foray into writing about science.

Peter Brown’s visit is sponsored by the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL) and UConn’s Lifelong Learning Program (UL3P), a Hubbell Foundation-funded educational initiative to bring learning science knowledge and strategies to undergraduate students. UL3P is a collaborative effort of CETL, the School of Engineering, and the School of Nursing. Since 2015, UL3P has funded Engineering’s Lifelong Learning Program (EL3P), which has used Make It Stick as part of its 2017-2018 curriculum. EL3P students will have a separate opportunity to meet with the author.
